WordPress Feature 1: Image Editor
In the current version, upload new image looks like this image

In WordPress 2.9 this will be like this one:

Previously you had to use a image editor to edit images and then upload it or you had to use a plugin but now with WordPress 2.9 images uploader you can do the following three functions:

1. you can edit the pictures.
2. you can customize the URL of the image
3. you can directly move the into the Recycle Bin or Trash it.

The image editor offers the following features

1. Image cropping functionality
2. Scale Full Size Image
3. Clock and anticlockwise rotation
4. An undo and redo button
5. Trash the image

You can also customize the URL of the image, trash the image and if some thing is wrong ‘undo’ and start anew.

WordPress Feature 2: Recycle Bin Feature

Now you can move a page, post , comment or even a media to trash. So that if you need it in future you can just restore it.

Note that the Recycle Bin’s article will be deleted after a period of time you save, this time is by default a month, which is 30 days.So, if you want to restore it do it before the dead line.You can  change the time period by modifying the wp-config.php.

WordPress Features 3: excerpt Filters

The wordpress2.9 version you will be  able to add two new filters to adjust the excerpt (the_excerpt ()) summary  by adding the following code  in the function.php file

To apply-

1. You have to have enough traffic
2. Send an email to adsenseapi-support@google.com and include a brief description of how you plan to use the API
3. Must agree to all the TOS of adsense
4. Make sure you have an adsense account
5. Wait for approval
6. Submit an application here

Now with the AdSense API, your users can create their own AdSense accounts on your site, and display ads alongside the content that they have created. They can also manage their accounts and view ad performance and earnings reports, all on your site.

To run WordPress your host just needs a couple of things:

• PHP version 4.3 or greater
• MySQL version 4.0 or greater
• The mod_rewrite Apache module

Web-hosting companies give details of what they offering in their plan details but you must consider the following features-

• WordPress requires a Linux-based server to offer maximum functionality and stability.
• Bandwidth and storage are important but remember not to overlook other parts of the package.
• How many domains and databases do you need?Does your potential host allow multiple MySQL databases and multiple domains on one account? Belive me you need a large number of databases.
• Did they offer cPanel or similar Control Panels?
• PHP ,MySQL ,Ruby on Rails, Python/Perl CGI .htaccess, cron jobs are all widely used programming languages and databases, so if you don’t have one or more of these tools in your hosting, your design options will be limited.
• If you want one or more email addresses with your domain name, does your host offer them,if yes then how many?
• Do they offer access to .htaccess and allow to enable mod_rewrite module ?(It give you flexibility to change your link structure)
• Do they offer a WordPress easy one-click install using Fanastico?
• Do they offer regular backups?
• Do they offer quick customer support?You should test out customer support yourself by asking them few technical questions and also look into other blogs and websites that offer reviews.
• Their uptime guarantee?A 99.9% uptime guarantee means that you should have no more than 40 minutes downtime per month, or 8 hours per year. While this sounds good, in theory, having this downtime at peak times could still be disastrous.
• Be sure to ask those questions to them before you pay-handing over your money only to find out your issue isn’t addressed can hurt, badly.

Things you must check after setting up your website-

• If you use shared hosting you should check your cpu and ram usage regularly.Your website may be suspended for Exessive load of CPU usage.Shared hosting is exactly what the name says ‘it’s shared’.If your usage leads to server overloading and performance starts to degrade for other customers, they will act. It’s just how things are in a shared hosting environment.
• If you are with in your host’s CPU/RAM limits you are safe to host a number of sites.

There are many types of domain like top-level domains (TLDs), including the generic top-level domains (gTLDs), such as the prominent domains com, net and org, and the country code top-level domains (ccTLDs) like .uk , .us, .in etc. And then there are Second-level domains like yourname.blogspot.com or yourname.wordpress.com which are offered for free.

Appropriate domain type for your blog?

Well if you want to build a blog only for the specific people (A blog in your language) go for a ccTLDs like .jp or .in etc. But if you want to target global  audience go for .com , .net or .org( I will advice you to go for a .com). But now there is a new trend like Matt Mullenberg blogs on ma.tt ,well if you are a famous person like Matt then you can do it.

What is a sub-domain name and subdirectory-

This can also confused many users.When you apply for a top-level domain name, then you have full control over the domain name, you can set up free sub-domains and subdirectories.
For example, if you buy a yourdomain.com then you can create

blog.yourdomain.com - It is an example of sub-domain
yourdomain.com/blog -It is an example of subdirectory

What is a Name Server?

Nameservers tells your browser where a website is located and helps the browser to find it.When a visitor try to go to your website, he enters your domain name in the Internet browser.The browser then searches the nameservers about the location of the server to find out just where your website is located. Then, it connects to the server and opens your web page.

It is not something you as the website developer must know or even need to understand, you just need to provide the names of the nameservers when you buy or set up your domain name. Your web host will assign your nameservers when you enroll in their hosting service.

But there are many alternatives like Hostgator , Dreamhost and others.And if you don’t have a domain name buy one at Godaddy( they also provide a cheap hosting solution).

Do we need to learn anything new?

In our process of building a blog site, it is necessary(not really) to understand a few basic concepts like IP Address, Dpmain names, Nameservers and Host.

What is IP Address?

IP is the abbreviation for Internet Protocol, which refers to a specific ip address. Generally speaking, when you buy a virtual host (server), the hosting service provider will give you an ip address for use.

What is Domain name?

At the beginning of Internet , there was no concept of domain names.Ip domain name was initially used to solve the problem but it is too difficult to remember, and thus domain name has become an important matter to create your online brand.

Nameservers?

Well, for example purpose if you are going to buy a domain name from godaddy and a hosting solution from Dreamhost then you must know about Nameservers otherwise( If you are buying your domain and hosting from same company) forget about it. We will explain about it later.

Hosting?

It is used to store and run our website or blog. Any networked computer can be used as a server, including your personal computer. But in order to ensure the site’s speed, stability and reliability, you need highend hardware, software and a team of highly qualified people. So now it is prefered to rent from a Hosting Service Provider.

500 Internal server error- warriorforum.com

500 Internal server error – premature end of headers – Can’t access site-WordPress.org

Well, these suggestions helped us to narrow down the problem but ‘How did we solve this problem?’ Just read on.

1. We did a total backup.
2. Check the error log.( In our case it was  at /logs/soullessblogger.com/http XXXXX/error.log , we used Filezilla as our FTP client)
3. Try to use the method mentioned in paininthetech.com , it was not enough to solve our problem.
   
4. Then we delete all our plug-in with our FTP client. (Suggestion-Make a backup of plug-in directory)
5. And voila the site is online.
6. Reinstall important plug-in’s form the backup folder.(Remember the last installed plug-in and don’t install it again. Check other alternatives)
7. Happy blogging.

In our case this solution saved us but it may not work in your case.If you get the same error just try this but cant assure this method will work for you.
